The Evergreen Dinner a resounding success!

13 October 2008

Centennial Parklands Foundation’s Evergreen Dinner on Saturday 11 October 2008 was a resounding success with more than $60,000 raised towards a new Education Centre and Recycled Garden project in Centennial Parklands.

An evening of exceptional food and great entertainment was enjoyed by around 280 people, with internationally renowned chef Mark Best, from Marque Restaurant, delighting people with creative ‘slow food’ dishes created from locally sourced organic and biodynamic produce.

‘We are thrilled that so many people supported this inaugural event. The funds raised are vital for important environmental and educational projects in Centennial Parklands and we are delighted at the outpouring of support we have received,’ said Sarah Whyte, Chair of the Centennial Parklands Foundation.

Amongst those at the dinner were Federal Opposition Leader Malcolm Turnbull, former NSW Premiers Nick Greiner and Neville Wran, and Seven Chief Executive David Leckie.

The auction of the Port Jackson fig to be planted in Banksia Way, Centennial Park raised $12,000, with Culligan Water being the lucky bidder.

The Evergreen Dinner gave the Centennial Parklands Restaurant's new licensee, Trippas White, the opportunity to showcase its new facility to an appreciative crowd in advance of its opening later this month.

The Evergreen Dinner is set to become a regular event on the fundraising calendar.

Entertainment on the evening was supplied by local Sydney three-piece, Los Tres Monos.

This event was proudly supported by Centennial Parklands Dining, Kiehl’s, Cascade Green, Tamburlaine Vineyard, Green Tomato Cars, Culligan Water, Form Over Function and Innovative Production Services.
